Business Emergency Grant
This program is for existing businesses that have been affected by the recent natural disaster.
The Sonora EDC understands the hardship that disasters bring unexpectedly on our economy. We want our local businesses to know they are not alone in their recovery efforts and the Sonora EDC is here to help. On July 27, 2026 the Board of Directors approved an emergency grant program to assist local businesses affected by the July 17, 2026 flood.
Business Eligibility:
- Must be an existing business
- Must provide proof of current sales tax report filed (if applicable to business)
- If not, sales tax collecting most recent personal property or franchise taxes filed
- Must provide proof of filed Federal Payroll & Unemployment/Texas Unemployment (if applicable)
- Must provide financial statements or tax return
- Must provide evidence of damages/losses
- Must provide costs of replacements or repairs

Deadlines:
Funding is a first-come first-served basis and is limited to the number of applicants. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible before:
5:00 pm - July 31st 2026 – for August 5th 2026 meeting
