New Business Program
This program is for entrepreneur's seeking to start new businesses funding can be used for purchasing a building or land, equipment, or creating jobs and training workforce.
The purpose is to increase sales tax, ad valorem tax (real or personal), and job creation in our area.
Summary of New Business Program (updated October 4, 2023)
Business Eligibility:
- Must have a business plan with analysis
- Must provide proof of business formation
- Must be registered in Sonora Texas
- Must meet with San Angelo Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
- Must provide financial statements
- Must provide photos, drafts, estimates and/or plans for use of funds
- Must collect sales tax or have 3/more W-2 employees or be a primary job work place.
ALL GRANTS ARE A 50/50 MATCH
New Business requests are capped at $10,000 and paid in increments typically but are at the discretion of the board:
50% year 1
35% year 2
15% year 3
Eligible Uses:
- Purchasing land or buildings
- New equipment (must be registered with appraisal district if applicable)
- Extension/addition of a building (must be registered with appraisal district if applicable)
- Permitting, licensing, or infrastructure needs
- Training workers for job specific duties (ex: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, CDL, etc.)
- Creation of new job opportunities
